Note: The EZ CamSites platform supports both adult and non-adult cam sites. If you are not planning to operate adult sites, than legal compliance is much less of an issue. However, if you do plan to operate adult sites, this is a critical area of concern.

Due to new stricter government regulations, such as United States Code, Title 18, Section 2257, it is now more difficult and more expensive than ever to operate an adult website. This particular regulation entails comprehensive age verification and record keeping protocols that are often costly and cumbersome. The penalty for non-compliance reads as follows:

(i) Whoever violates this section shall be imprisoned for not more than 5 years, and fined in accordance with the provisions of this title, or both. Whoever violates this section after having been convicted of a violation punishable under this section shall be imprisoned for any period of years not more than 10 years but not less than 2 years, and fined in accordance with the provisions of this title, or both.

In addition to worrying about the government, you also have to be concerned with being sued for copyright infringement, even if you don't actively participate in the infringement and may be completely unaware it. For example, a chat host uploads a video of one of her scenes from a porn movie to your website. She's the star of the video, but it turns out that someone else owns the copyright. As the owner of the site, that person can hold you responsible for violating the copyright.
